An animal-free organoid model has won the 3Rs Prize. The prize is awarded by the NC3Rs and sponsored by GSK.

Winner: Animal-free organoids for respiratory infection and immunity (Dr Lisa Wagar - California Irvine University, USA)

This year's 3Rs Prize will be officially awarded at an online ceremony on Thursday 20 July. Attendees will hear from the winner, Dr Lisa Wagar, on how she aims to streamline vaccine development for global respiratory pathogens of concern using her completely animal-free tonsil organoid model.

Professor Alex Frangi and Dr Ali Sarrami-Foroushani will also present the first in silico medical device study.
